The Octopus Made Me Do It

Our kids' sleep habits sometimes surprise me. Kids can sleep in the strangest positions and I don't under- stand how it could be comfortable. But as long as they're sleeping, I'm not going to worry about it. What I want to know is why they always seem so cute as soon as they're asleep. The boys can be wild and driving me nuts all day but then when they're asleep they look so cute I just want to pick them up and hug them.
Of course I don't because I remember how glad I was to finally be able to put them to bed after a day like that. So I give them a soft kiss so I don't wake them up and sometimes I take their picture.

It really cracked us up a couple of nights ago when Jace got up almost two hours after he went to bed. I thought he was getting up for a drink of water or one last trip to the bathroom and I was going to get mad at him for being up so late. But then I could tell he wasn't really awake.

He started telling Casey and me that he was sorry. We asked him what he was sorry about and his answer was, "It's just that, the octopus made me do it." We tried to stifle our laughter as we got him back to bed. I don't know if it was the way he said it or the fact that it was so unexpected but thinking about it still makes me laugh.
