What the kids are up to.

I can't believe how big the kids are getting. Jace comes hom from preschool telling me new facts he's learned that day, sometimes things I didn't even know, like which one of Christopher Columbus' ships was the biggest. (In case you're wondering, it was the Santa Maria.) He picks up on things so quickly. And he recently got his alphabet crown at preschool. This means he knows the names and sounds of all of his letters. He was so excited about getting this so I had to take a picture of him wearing it. But he also picks up on things people say that you may not want him to repeat. Like the other day Casey said something about me being "knocked up." Jace almost immediately repeated, "Yeah, mommy is knocked up. She is really knocked up." Thank you Casey. But he's starting to learn what things we do and don't say. I was playing Chutes and Ladders with Jace and he landed on the top of a chute. Before he moved his game piece down the chute he said, "dang it." He paused and then continued with, "It's good I didn't day 'damn it' huh mom because we don't say that." I agreed with him that we don't say that but it was all I could do to keep from laughing.

It is pretty easy to share a few sentences about Jace and let you know what he's learning these days. But Camden is at an age where some of his developmental milestones are harder to pinpoint or put into words. Of course he is talking more every day and trying all kinds of new words. He also really emphasizes the words he uses. Like if you tell him something he'll say, "Ohhhhh" in a really long drawn out way like he really got it. It's pretty funny to see him try and act so grown up. I really think he's convinced that he's just as big as his brother. And of course he's at an age where he gets into everything. Needless to say there is hardly a dull moment in the Russell home.

Disclaimer: The marker in the nose incident happened while I was at work. At least Casey took pictures before he cleaned him up becasue it is pretty funny.
